Trick or Treat by Lisa Morton7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() The chapter on dia de los Muertos was also another enlightening chapter. The evolution of horror movies, Halloween parties, and costumes as well as the frenzy of items sold in the months prior to Halloween have turned Halloween into a multi-million dollar profit. There was lots of information I didn’t know about, and I really enjoyed the detail on how trick or treat started from hundreds of years ago in Europe and now how it is practiced in America. This was such an interesting book! Morton explored in great detail how Halloween evolved from the start of Samhain from the first chapter ending with current day Halloween practices in America. Many aspects of Halloween are considered such as horror movies, haunted houses, and pop culture. Lisa Morton takes the readers through the past hundreds of years to explore how the world has celebrated Halloween and how the Celtic celebration of Samhain in addition to All Souls’ Day in the Catholic religion helped to shape Halloween in America. ![]()
